Check out what this Japanese village have done to liven up their bland landscape. They have created amazing rice paddy art.
Most of the art is Japanese themed and usually the whole village lend a hand to plant the rice to create these amazing rice paddy art images. No dyes are used in creating these spectacular images it’s all done by cleverly planting different colored rice and the watching it grow into these beautiful designs.

The rice is planted in the at the beginning of the season and then harvested in the towards the end of the year. As time goes by the Koganeiro strain of rice turns very light in color, almost golden.
Traditionally this type agricultural art was inspired by more traditional ideas but more recently it has turned to more modern styles from both Japan and from the west.
Rice paddy art took started over 100 years ago in a village called Aomori where the local council decided to make their landscape less bland.
Now it has not only brightened up the area but has actually become a tourist attraction bringing in many visitors to the area.
As well as looking beautiful the rice from this area is said to taste delicious as well we think it’s a great way to make you surroundings stand out from the norm.
