The National Geographic Traveler Photo Contest 2014 is well on its way and this year’s entries are truly breathtaking.
1. Cub Scouts Honor – Kevin Dietrich
Location: Alaska-Chigmit Mountains

While watching her mother dive for salmon in the frigid glacier water of the Crescent River this young brown bear cub couldn’t contain her excitement and stood up on her rear legs and politely made a waving direction towards me. In a matter of one hour this young cub ate several salmon that were provided by her intelligent and fearless mother. Deep in the Alaskan wilderness this brown bear family provided my favorite image of the year.
2. Diver in Magic Kingdom – Marc Henauer
Location: Grüner See at Tragöss – Austria

Green Lake (Grüner See) is located Tragöss Austria. In spring snowmelt raises the lake level about 10 meters. This phenomenon, which lasts only a few weeks covering the hiking trails, meadows, trees. The result is magical to watch diving landscapes.
3. One eye on you – Mohd Khorshid
Location: Kuwait

Short-eared owl in stretching and relaxing mode in Kuwait natural reserve.
4. A question of Faith – Pedro Moura Pinheiro
Location: Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

5. Svalbard – Stuart Chape
Location: Svalbard

The high cliffs of Svalbard drop steeply into the sea, the eroded green cliffs, remnant snow and aquamarine sea creating an abstract visual impression.
6. Huli Wigman – Vanessa Kerton
Location: Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea

The Huli wigmen are traditional warriors of the Tari area in the Western Highlands of Papua New Guinea. They grow their hair from early puberty and fashion it into the wig you see in this image. Each warrior has a different wig, with different adornments, it all depends on who you are in the tribe and what your accomplishments would have been.
7. Baby chameleon – Mehmet Karaca
Location: Kahramanmaras Turkey

The photo has been taken while baby chameleon was covered himself with dry leafs for hunting. Baby chameleon took a shot to spider from his secret place. Taking this kind of shots only possible by using your cameras serial shooter. Baby chameleon has really sharp eyes which lets him to see front, and backside at same time. Adult chameleons usually live on the trees, babies are usually on dry plants. They do feed themselves by spiders, instincts, and grasshoppers.
8. Above The Clouds – Marcelo Castro
Location: Dubai, UAE

Dubai’s tallest buildings piercing through a dense blanket of fog that covered the city shortly before sunrise.
9. AL-Marmoum Racetrack – Shoayb Khattab

10. Floating car – Takashi Nakagawa
Location: Uyuni, Bolivia

Salar de Uyuni is miracle. I was so moved of this landscape. I walked away from the car and took this photo with complete silence.
