Bobkov uses their curling forms, colors and shine to create organic forms like feathers and fur. He claims that almost any wood can be used, but he prefers working with Siberian cedar shavings. The work is time-consuming however, as one large bird or animal takes the artist anywhere from 4 to 6 months of work at 14 to 18 hours a day. Bobkov says he became this enthusiastic for the work after trying to create a life-size bird and succeeding wonderfully. And when he’s not creating these very time-consuming sculptures, he creates smaller souvenirs that he sells on his website.
