An extremely rare Rolex watch has just set a new record for being the most expensive Rolex watch in the world. The stainless steel chronograph Rolex is dated back to 1942 and sold for an astonishing $1.176 million at Christie’s Important Watches sale in Geneva.

Only twelve examples of this Rolex watch bearing Ref 4113 were ever made and research indicates that only eight remain with five already being auctioned off.

As much as I like Rolex watches, I think spending $1.176 million on just one watch is a bit over the top. I certainly wouldn’t wear this on my wrist, in fact if I owned something so valuable I would have to leave it in a safe somewhere.
