We know they sell black ice cream in Japan but now we have learnt that you can buy a black whopper at Burger King in Japan too. How crazy is that?

The heads at Burger King Japan thought their traditional burgers were a bit boring so have spiced things up by selling black burgers. There are two to choose from, the Kuro Diamond and the kuro Pearl and both will be available across Japan from September 19th.

These burgers feature black cheese, black garlic sauce and a black bun. To get this dark gothic color the bread bun and cheese are colored with bamboo charcoal and the garlic sauce is mixed with squid ink. While these ingredients may sound bizarre they are food additives which are commonly used in Japan.
