Playing games is a great way to de-stress from the demands of day-to-day lives. Whether it’s highly imaginative games like World of Warcraft or the 21 game, using your imagination and the correct strategy is a highly creative exercise for your brain.
Road trips are fun but they can quickly take a turn towards boring. To make the most out of your road trip, here are the top games for you that you can play while travelling.
Name that tune
Inspired by the popular American TV show Name That Tune, this game works well with a car radio that scans stations automatically. You can also ask the front seat passenger to change the song every five seconds. The objective of the game is to guess the title of the song. A variation is to take turns singing the next line of the song being played.
Once upon a time
This is a fun game that involves using your imagination to develop stories. Each player created a fictional story about the occupants in the car. You must begin with the phrase, “Once Upon a Time.” For instance, your best friend driving the car may prompt, “Once upon a time my neighbour bought a car to impress his wife.” Each person must add one sentence to the fictional storyline.
Connect the dots
Create a large box shape of dot squares on a sheet of paper. You can also print the free connect-the-dots game sheets available on the internet before your trip. Each player will draw a line connecting two dots either vertically or horizontally. The objective of the game is to complete the maximum number of boxes. Each time you complete a box, put the initial of your name inside it. At the end when there are no boxes left, the player who has the maximum number of initialled squares wins in the game.
Explain a movie plot badly
Although this game is played outside of road trips, you can also enjoy it in the car. One of the occupants in the car thinks of a movie and then explains the plot in both factual and terrible manner. The other person has to make a guess. If they’re able to guess correctly, they get a point. If they fail, you get a point.
You have to choose a colour and spot cars of the same colour. Each person chooses an unusual colour for the car, such as mint green, purple and yellow. Players will get a point every time they spot a car in their chosen colour. At the end of the trip, the person with the fewest points buys a beverage for other players.
This game is suited for both adults and kids. The first person whispers a short story to the person beside him in the car. The story continues to be whispered from person to person. The last person tells the story to everyone in the car. The fun enters when everyone knows how much the story has changed since the start.
