Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Planned for the Big Screen
According to Deadline reports the Ubisoft’s best-selling video game franchise, Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell, is heading for the big screen.
The first game in the Splinter Cell series was released back in 2002 and was set in 2004. The game followed the adventures of Sam Fisher, a covert operative assigned to a top-secret National Security Agency branch called the Third Echelon.
Splinter Cell differed to most video games as players were required to complete missions using stealth tactics instead of the usual shoot everything that moves.
Due to the game’s success and popularity several sequels were produced including, most recently, Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Conviction, released in 2010. A new game, Blacklist is planned for release early next year.
At the moment, plans for a big screen version of Splinter Cell are relatively nascent, but check back for details as they become available.
