Absorbed Glass Mat batteries come with glass mat separators. Between the positive and the negative plates of the battery there is acid electrolyte. The oxygen produced on the positive plate will migrate to the negative plate during charging, thanks to the pressure valves. When it comes to maintenance, AGM batteries are basically the best ones, because you don’t have to worry about them.
Additionally, these batteries accept high voltage, up to 40% of the amp-hour capacity of the battery, which is more than the energy taken by the other batteries. Additionally, its self-discharge rate is of 3%. However, for all these benefits the price is also higher.
The gel in these batteries is made out of phosphoric acid, fumed silica, pure water, and sulphuric acid. When you charge these batteries a small amount of oxygen and hydrogen is generated at the plates. These gases are combined into water. This also helps the battery, as it won’t dry during charging. These batteries charge at a lower voltage compared to the other one you need to make sure that your voltage is not too high for these.
