McLaren Automotive have released pictures of their new 2012 P1 supercar which is to be a successor to the awesome McLaren F1. The P1 is still in it’s development stage but we could be seeing this new sports car going on sale within the next 12 months.
The McLaren P1 is intended to be, according to managing director Antony Sheriff, “the most exciting, most capable, most technologically advanced and most dynamically accomplished supercar ever made–not necessarily to be the fastest in absolute top speed but to be the quickest and most rewarding series production road car on a circuit.”
This isn’t the final production version of the P1, however. It’s merely a design preview–the production version will be unveiled and go on sale sometime within the next 12 months.
That, unfortunately, is the extent of the details released on the car thus far. For more information on what might be involved in making the McLaren P1 the most track-worthy road car in history, check out our previous coverage here.

The Mclaren F1 was an amazing supercar, it was built during the 90’s and had the record for being the fastest production car in the world. It was also the first supercar to offer 3 seats instead of the traditional 2.
It’s good news that Mclaren automotive have decided to bring this car back to life but why the hell did it take them so long? They were at the top of league back in the nineties but were over taken by the likes of Bugatti and Saleen. It may be possible now that the Veyron has a serious competitor but then again according to McLaren cars chief they are not looking at top speed but rather most rewarding. What can be more rewarding than having the fastest car in the world?
