Classic TV Series “ALF” On Its Way To The Big Screen

Sony Pictures Animation has acquired the rights to the 1980s sitcom Alf and will be bringing the lovable Alien Life Form to the big screen as a CGI character.

ALF, whose actual name is Gordon Shumway, made his first appearance on TV screens in 1986. The furry alien creature followed an amateur radio signal after his home planet Melmac was destroyed and ended up crashing down at the suburban home of the Tanner family. As he had nowhere to go, the family took him in and had to consequently hide him from government forces.

The original voice of ALF, Paul Fusco, is expected to return for a big screen take on the fuzzy extraterrestrial that will merge live action with CGI.

Jordan Kerner, who previously adapted The Smurfs for the studio in a similar fashion, will produce alongside Fusco and series creator Tom Patchett.
