Today’s beast machines great things in small packages the Caterham AeroSeven goes 0 to 60 under 4 seconds from a 2 litre engine.

What you’re looking at here is the Caterham AeroSeven concept the first glimpse of the new road-going Caterham, due to arrive in autumn 2014. It was unveiled in Singapore ahead of this weekend’s F1 Grand Prix, and it’s already generating quite a buzz in social media circles. It’s fair to say that the styling isn’t to everyone’s taste, but it shows Caterham looking forward and not back, and that’s a very good thing… We reckon the Caterham AeroSeven looks immense. Full of intent and purpose. And who cares whether it’s attractive when you’re chasing down supercars on a track day? Just imagine that ‘face’ in your rear view mirror – like an angry wasp threatening to spoil your picnic.

Caterham claims the AeroSeven will reach 62mph in under 4 seconds, largely thanks to its 240hp 2.0-litre Ford Duratec-based engine, seen recently in the Caterham Seven 485. It’s also a pretty aerodynamic car. Caterham claims the AeroSeven ‘balances function and form to increase downforce while vastly improving the drag coefficient’. See, we told you it looked like this for a reason. The company has drawn inspiration from its direct involvement in Formula One, with the Caterham F1 Team creating the shape following extensive circuit and wind tunnel testing.
